Polish cuisine involves lots of meat, potatoes, cabbages and did I mention meat? Many polish recipes have been adapted from Jewish recipes and made their own. With the high calories and heavy sauces, the Hungry ferret has no trouble loosening it’s belt for this one.

Our starter was pierogies stuffed with Mushroom and Polish Sauerkraut. All I can say about these is wow. You have not tasted sauerkraut until you have tasted polish sauerkraut. The combination of the sourness and savoriness was divine. Just like mothers offers the pierogies in cheese, potato and meat versions, prepared either fried or boiled. I highly recommend them side of sour cream.

The Blintze that was ordered was not the normal fruit and cheese blintze that you would normally expect. The Meat Blintze with the mushroom gravy was very good. The flavors of the ground beef was a good complement to the crispy outside.

The tasty warm Pastrami Sandwich was not like a typical Jewish Kosher Deli pastrami sandwich. It generally was pretty good but did not have anything special to it.

Hunter’s Pork chop was pleasant surprise. The tangy and sauerkraut stuffed center was the polish version of a cordon bleu in my opinion that would able to complete with the French version. The pork was very tender and well cooked, the breading was crispy and not over fried. This dish with a side order of mushroom gravy would be a good idea.
