<p>This little shop might be a bit hard to miss on Bell  Blvd.  I can&#8217;t blame you at night, with the bars at full swing trying to attract all the real life Ke$hias, can be distracting time to time.  But nothing gets past this nose, once you hit the corner , you can get a whiff of some smokey goodness.  This Ferret probably gonna eat well tonight.</p>
<p><span id="more-1111"></span><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5444116096/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5092/5444116096_49cf5a944b.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Interior is nicely decorated with memories of <a class="zem_slink" title="Barbecue" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbecue">BBQ</a>.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5444118014/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4142/5444118014_3d096d80a2.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Menu Boards are up over the counter displaying the many items.  Ready to eat and ready to cook food items are displayed proudly.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5443544945/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5256/5443544945_ff7a35349b.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>The fridge case displays all the made food that can be reheated or server cold.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5444149206/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5058/5444149206_1eb252012b.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>BBQ Brawler, which includes <a class="zem_slink" title="Brisket" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brisket">Brisket</a>, Pork, Chicken, <a class="zem_slink" title="Bacon" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacon">Bacon</a>, <a class="zem_slink" title="Onion ring" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onion_ring">Onion Rings</a>, Cheese, and <a class="zem_slink" title="Coleslaw" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coleslaw">Cole Slaw</a>.  A very large sandwich also I might add.  It something that you might want to share with other people.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5444149638/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5296/5444149638_2e1b2bf68e.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>BBQ Brawler is a sandwich that basically from the description, has everything including the kitchen sink.  The sandwich overall is very good and I would order again.  Also note again, you should be very hungry or looking to share this sandwich.  Common problem with this type of  sandwich is,  some of the flavors may get lost, I not sure if anything got lost, there is so much of it all.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5443548319/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5214/5443548319_b982fe10cf.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Side View of the BBQ Brawler.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5444151980/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4074/5444151980_cb0850373d.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Chicken and pulled pork, both tender and smoky no surprise there.  Overall very bbq <a class="zem_slink" title="Meat" rel="wikinvest" href="http://www.wikinvest.com/industry/Meat">meats</a> with the jambalaya<br />
rice that has a nice little tomato kick to it.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5444161066/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5133/5444161066_4e86f82341.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Ribs have a nice thick smoky flavor.  The meat is not fall off the bones, but they are tender and  juicy.  The ribs do have a bite to them, from time to time, that something I enjoy.  Sometimes I don&#8217;t want my meat to feel like a jello mush.  The side corn has a nice sweet buttery flavor to them, also.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5443552653/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5097/5443552653_f6a2900564.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Rabbid Dogs, two all beef dogs, mustard, onions, bacon, kraut, and a sliced pickle.  Another monster creation made with love.  Sometimes you want a little this or that with your dog, but it won&#8217;t fit.  In this case, you have two dogs deep fried, cut in half and arranged out lengthwise.  Now there is is plenty of room for the other toppings that go well with the hotdog.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5443554373/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5053/5443554373_2c21a519e9.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Famous Steak Sandwich Skirt Steak, Mozzarella, and <a class="zem_slink" title="Garlic bread" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garlic_bread">Garlic Bread</a> is the specialty of the sandwich here.  The meat is thick and tender and has been well cooked.  The flavors of the meat are of a symphony of beautiful beefy smokiness, cheese and garlicky goodness.   It a fav of mine here.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5443556021/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4108/5443556021_d2979f458e.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="332" /></a></p>
<p>Hot Dog with mustard and <a class="zem_slink" title="Kraut" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kraut">Kraut</a>.  This all beef hot dog has a nice snap, topped with the grain mustard and kraut, gives this dog all the favor it needs.  Remember, these are plain butcher dogs, you will generally need toppings to them.  These type of hot dogs are milder in spices compared to kosher dogs like Hebrew National.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5443557381/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5180/5443557381_c60f16a0fc.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="332" /></a></p>
<p>Corn Bread here is surprisingly very good.  I used to think you had to go down south to get some good corn bread.  This bread&#8217;s is not overly grainy, mushy, or sweet.  It had the right balance of everything.  Cream of spinach is well made here, not overly creamy as many places might do.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5444161728/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4149/5444161728_9b9fb39bfe.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="332" /></a></p>
<p>Fries here were a disappointment.  They come out greasy and soggy.  Not quite sure what happened here, but if it was a mishap, I will update if they are redeemed to a crispy stature.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5443560649/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4114/5443560649_3fe2cf3360.jpg" alt="Three Brothers Butcher BBQ" width="500" height="332" /></a></p>
<p>BLT sandwich with smoked bacon has tons of smoky flavor.  This is a case where a little bit goes a long way.  If you crave a thick cut of firm bacon you will love this one.</p>

<p><strong>Rating:</strong> 4 paws out of 5<strong><br />
Spent:</strong>.$25 per person<strong><br />
Chain:</strong> No<br />
<strong>Date Friendly:</strong> Yes, If you want to smell like BBQ.<br />
<strong>Note:</strong> All you can eat</p>
<p>14742 <a class="zem_slink" title="New York State Route 25A" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_State_Route_25A">Northern Blvd</a><br />
Flushing, NY 11354<br />
(718) 358-5959</p>
<p>BBQ is a big favorite for this guy here.  The sweet smell of meat being grilled, combined with the sweetness of the marinade is very intoxicating.  <a class="zem_slink" title="Galbi" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galbi">Korean BBQ</a> is a totally unique animal in the BBQ world.  It savoriness is incomparable to any other BBQ in the world.  Since this place is all you can eat, how much will this ferret eat before he just plain throws up.<br />
<span id="more-833"></span></p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Picnic Garden" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5122447860/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1374/5122447860_1cf1291f1f.jpg" alt="Picnic Garden" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Picnic Garden is all you can eat, it is a pretty simple set up, just go towards the <a class="zem_slink" title="Buffet" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffet">buffet</a> area and start acquiring the meat.  Usually the buffet is well stocked and plenty of various different meats and sides that are usually served out as banchan.  Banchan is the little side or starter dishes that Korean BBQ places give you before the main event starts.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Picnic Garden" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5122446146/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1362/5122446146_e3a4472176.jpg" alt="Picnic Garden" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Picnic Garden" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5122446934/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1086/5122446934_68c56b4b15.jpg" alt="Picnic Garden" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Picnic Garden" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5122446488/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4031/5122446488_93e96f357d.jpg" alt="Picnic Garden" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>The banchan here includes many items like seaweed salad, fried and steamed dumplings, <a class="zem_slink" title="Jeon (food)" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeon_%28food%29">korean pancake</a>, and other various seafood.  These side items are pretty much average.  On busier days it is very fresh since it is always rotating out.  This place is pretty popular so you may not have many periods of the day where you will be alone.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Picnic Garden" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5122446786/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/5122446786_3e92dd7982.jpg" alt="Picnic Garden" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Bulgogi are thin slices of beef that has been marinated in a sweet <a class="zem_slink" title="Soy sauce" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soy_sauce">soy sauce</a>.  The marainade is good and you control the cooking, you can control how well done you want.  People come time to time to cut up your meat into bite sized pieces.  The bulgogi here is of decent quality, not to gristly.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Picnic Garden" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5122447644/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1057/5122447644_0235c761ea.jpg" alt="Picnic Garden" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Galbi is usually marinated beef short ribs with a sweet garlicky soy sauce.  The bone is intact at the end whole.  This cut is the more traditional type and is the most authentic out of all of them.  This is a favorite cut of many here.  This cut provides good marbling and good thickness in the meat with the ease of eating.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="Picnic Garden" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/5122447184/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4047/5122447184_69b34ed8fd.jpg" alt="Picnic Garden" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>L.A. Galbi is same as Galbi but cut differently.  It is called L.A. for Lateral Axis.  The short rib is cut against the bone, so you will see about 4-5 thin slices of bone.  The marinade will penetrate the meat faster, thus having a more flavorful marinated meat.  Many consider this cut a low end cut of short rib and harder to eat.  Often I prefer this cut just for the flavor but it is harder to eat.</p>

<p>They provide the lettuce, bean paste, and garlic hot pepper to make the traditional lettuce wrap.  This method makes the meat a bit tastier and appear to be more moist.  Highly recommended to at least try once.  If you are lazy you can just eat the meat.  The wait staff here is decent, but you might require to request to have your lettuce and garlic refilled time to time.  It is a after all an all you can eat buffet.</p>

<p><strong>Rating:</strong> 5 paw out of 5<br />
<strong>Spent:</strong> ~ $32 per person per day.  $125 total<br />
<a title="Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.bigapplebbq.org/" target="_blank">http://www.bigapplebbq.org/</a></p>
<p>If you want to see Day 1, here is the <a href="http://www.hungryferret.com/2010/06/2010-big-apple-bbq-day-1/" target="_self">Link</a>.</p>
<p>This event was too big for for just 1 day and just for 1 post.  This ferret had to break the eating marathon into day 2.  One day and all this meat is just way too much.  After the first day this ferret started to get dizzy just from all this meat.  Next time, this little guy will be careful and not eat too much protein at once.  Hopefully we can complete this national tour of BBQs.</p>
<p><span id="more-553"></span></p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696942297/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4048/4696942297_3b7cb13824.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Martin&#8217;s Bar-B-Que comes all the way from Nashville TN, <a href="http://www.martinsbbqjoint.com/" target="_blank">http://www.martinsbbqjoint.com/</a>.  Patrick Martin runs a true Nashville treasure and sticks to a southern style BBQ.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697575640/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4066/4697575640_128dd3e533.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Martin&#8217;s rig is huge and beautiful, how else are you gonna smoke 6 whole hogs at one time.  At other years we were able to catch them take the hog out.  This year we were unable to see it.  Basically the hog that comes out falling off the bones.  It is amazing how tender the meat looks.  If ya lucky, they might give you the Hog&#8217;s foot to chew on.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696942545/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4064/4696942545_4cae6eabd9.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>The western Tennessee Style Whole Hog with sweet pickles for Martin&#8217;s was amazing.  There was a big spicy kick that mixed so well with the cooling coleslaw.  The sweet pickles further cool down the tongue from the fiery sandwich.  This sandwich has always been on the To-Do list.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696943603/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4022/4696943603_a88cb942dc.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn with Ken Bosley comes from Qwensboro, KY.  <a href="http://www.moonlite.com/" target="_blank">http://www.moonlite.com/</a>.  This place has over 40 years of tradition and offers a different non traditional kind of BBQ meat (not pork or beef).</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696945529/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4025/4696945529_52a5b492a2.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>This rig had a nice Sheep / Ram on top.  To show that this was not a pork or a beef place.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696944037/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4696944037_a8a806e4cd.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Moonlite Bar-B-Q inn had a nice presentation of BBQ Mutton and Burgoo.  The meat has a slight gamely taste but it was not enough to bother me.  It was more like hey, I am not corn fed beef or pork.  The meat was moist and had a nice bite to it.  The combination of meat, sauce and pickles was excellent.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696945141/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4014/4696945141_75abcf2191.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Burgoo, is probably something very strange to us northerners.  Well it is basically a stew with game meat, in this case, I think Mutton, but I would not be shocked it more of a exotic meat.  It had great flavors and the potatoes in the stew was great.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697578318/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4070/4697578318_b69025061a.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Some site promo material to further let you know that this place is good.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697578988/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1301/4697578988_bb5016094c.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="334" /></a></p>
<p>Hill Country BBQ from New York, this is probably the only New York BBQ that we had tasted just because we never heard of it.  I happy that I tried it out.  This place was good, <a href="http://www.hillcountryny.com/">http://www.hillcountryny.com/</a> .  This place follows the traditions of Texas to provide the best in smoked meats.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696947019/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4054/4696947019_4bd4f29d2c.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>The Hill Country Rig was cool looking and offered the Texas star as the logo.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696947405/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4035/4696947405_d195b2bab5.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>They had the Brisket on display for the masses to salivate over.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697578680/">.<img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4697578680_c2a8925fca.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>The Beef Brisket with sauce was excellent.  It had all the makings of a good BBQ dish, tender, moist, and tangy from the sauce.  The Cool as Cucumber Salad was refreshing and sweet with a slight tangy to it.  These two components compliment each other very well.<br />
<a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697580144/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4033/4697580144_980c6a4f88.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Pappy&#8217;s Smokehouse from St Louis Mo, <a href="http://www.pappyssmokehouse.com/" target="_blank">http://www.pappyssmokehouse.com/</a> .  Lead by Skip Steele with over 30 years of experience have earned them the title of best BBQ in St. Louis.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697580470/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4039/4697580470_e4eac36aab.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>St. Louis Style Ribs was very smokey and meaty.  The ribs was not covered in sauce, had a big bite to them and I sense some kinda of fruit wood taste to it.  The bake beans were firm but not hard, they have a nice savoriness to them.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697583714/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1271/4697583714_dc60c70894.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Jim &#8216;N Nick&#8217;s Bar-B-Q, is a father and son restaurant lead by Drew Robinson.  <a href="http://www.jimnnicks.com" target="_blank">http://www.jimnnicks.com</a> They follow the tradition of slow and low BBQ southern style.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696940657/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4020/4696940657_6d552edaef.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>They have a  rig of people chopping up everything.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697572760/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4002/4697572760_fe49999a27.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>With this rig they are surrounded by grills of sausages.  It made me hungry every time I passed it.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697584000/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1292/4697584000_d0d11e37e4.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Jim N&#8217; Nick offered homemade Smoked Sausage with Pimento Cheese and saltines.  Each piece of this dish might be ok, but when put together, all the flavors combine and melts together perfectly.  The slight spice of the sauage, the creaminess of the cheese, the spice of the hot pepper, and the saltine just tied everything together into a nice neat package.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696952803/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4054/4696952803_cf695acfa7.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>They posted at their stand a diagram on how to eat this sausage.  It is basically just piece of everything in the right portions.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696953173/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4016/4696953173_a1a4e6f8c5.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Pretty much on the second day, I had no trouble finishing the pass with a partner.</p>

<p><strong>Rating:</strong> 5 paw out of 5<br />
<strong>Spent:</strong> ~ $32 per person per day.  $125 total<br />
<a title="Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.bigapplebbq.org/" target="_blank">http://www.bigapplebbq.org/</a></p>
<p>If you want to see Day 2, here is the <a href="http://www.hungryferret.com/2010/06/2010-big-apple-bbq-day-2/" target="_self">Link</a></p>
<p>This ferret been super eager for this big event of the year.  A normal person would have to travel all over the <a class="zem_slink" title="United States" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667%20%28United%20States%29&amp;t=h">United States</a> to try every single dish presented here.  It would have cost tons of money and plenty of time.   <a class="zem_slink" title="New York City" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.7166666667,-74.0&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=40.7166666667,-74.0%20%28New%20York%20City%29&amp;t=h">New York</a> is one of the best Cities in the world for a reason.  Eventually given enough time, everybody will come to New York, and they do, this time with the best CUE in the world.  There is no question that this Hungry Ferret will be satisfied.</p>
<p><span id="more-542"></span></p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696931987/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4002/4696931987_17084db6bf.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>The fast pass, goes for $125 you will get $100 credit / 1 pass for a you and a guest.  But you have to pre-order these and they do have a limited run.  So in April time period start checking the <a class="zem_slink" title="Website" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Website">website</a> to see if you can order.  I will remind you all on twitter also if you follow me.  But the pass lets you in a separate area with their own porta-poties and sinks and separate much shorter lines.  This event gets very crowded and I recommend you getting it.  Dishes are $8 and they do add up between you and your friends.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696932723/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/4696932723_6647857686.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>The Pit, with the pitmaster Ed Mitchell, from <a class="zem_slink" title="Raleigh, North Carolina" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=35.8188888889,-78.6447222222&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=35.8188888889,-78.6447222222%20%28Raleigh%2C%20North%20Carolina%29&amp;t=h">Raleigh</a> NC <a href="http://www.thepit-raleigh.com/" target="_blank">http://www.thepit-raleigh.com/</a>.</p>

<p>Ed Mitchell was onsite for photos with <a class="zem_slink" title="Domo (NHK)" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domo_%28NHK%29">Domo-Kun</a> and any other random person.  Ever since he had defeated <a class="zem_slink" title="Bobby Flay" rel="imdb" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0991680/">Bobby Flay</a> on <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/throwdown-with-bobby-flay/index.html" target="_blank">Throwdown</a>, he been very popular with the ladies.  He is very friendly and is willing to talk to whoever wants to talk to him.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697565952/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4067/4697565952_09a1b752e6.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Ed Mitchell brings his customer smoker/grill for his fast and hot whole hogs.  If you hang out long enough some of the people chopping up the meat will hand out some of the super crispy skin for a yummy taste.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697565508/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4011/4697565508_f3a86119fb.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>His stand serves Whole Hog and Coleslaw.  This bbq is from the <a class="zem_slink" title="North Carolina" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina">North Carolina</a> so they use a vinegar based sauce instead of a tomato based sauce.  This sandwich is very good with tender chopped meat.  The <a class="zem_slink" title="Coleslaw" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coleslaw">coleslaw</a> was refreshing and had a nice bite to it.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696936969/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1282/4696936969_561620ff55.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Jack&#8217;s Old South Bar-B-que from Myron Mixon, <a href="http://www.jacksoldsouth.com/" target="_blank">http://www.jacksoldsouth.com/</a>.  Myron Mixon is on TLC&#8217;s <a href="http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/bbq-pitmasters" target="_blank">BBQ Pitmasters</a>.  Also he has a cooking school in Unadilla, <a class="zem_slink" title="Georgia (U.S. state)" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=33.0,-83.5&amp;spn=3.0,3.0&amp;q=33.0,-83.5%20%28Georgia%20%28U.S.%20state%29%29&amp;t=h">Georgia</a> for $750 per weekend, competition style teaching.</p>

<p>His big beautiful Rig brings a tear to my little ferret eyes.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696934425/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4036/4696934425_25b3412a80.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Also on site, I see a huge pile of  wood for smoking.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696935255/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4041/4696935255_d970ffd2e3.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Beef Brisket and beans from his stand.  This beef brisket is really good, it was tender, moist and had excellent beef flavor.  Very impressive on such a massive scale.  The beans were very sweet and had some kind of fruity flavor.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696938801/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/4696938801_c62e7d1005.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Upon closer inspection of the beans, we see some canned peaches with the beans.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697568120/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4065/4697568120_a20a044e8f.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>The Beef Brisket and we see some nice beautiful marbling.  It is so tender that I can break the meat up with a fork.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696936035/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4072/4696936035_85e921edb9.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q <a href="http://www.bigbobgibsonbbq.com" target="_blank">http://www.bigbobgibsonbbq.com</a>.  This rig is by Chris Lilly which has won 10 World BBQ championships.  This group is probably one of the most famous in the United States from Decatur, Al.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697569274/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4018/4697569274_d7946b5de9.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Pulled Pork and Shoulder with their famous BBQ sauce and Mustard Coleslaw.  The meat of course had a nice smokiness, very tender, moist and a tangy from the bbq sauce.  The mustard brought a nice element flavor to coleslaw.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4696937701/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4040/4696937701_271dcf8674.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Checkered Pig <a href="http://www.checkeredpig.com/" target="_blank">http://www.checkeredpig.com/</a> is from Martinsville, VA.  You can find their team Checkered Pig in competition and eat at their restaurant <a href="http://www.checkeredpig.com/restaurant.asp" target="_blank">Pigs R Us</a>.   With many awards under their belt, they sure are not to be missed.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697570918/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4053/4697570918_1696a97f09.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>
<p>Ribs with Coleslaw was what was offered from the Checkered Pig.  The ribs was a tender, moist and saucy.   There was flavor down to the bone, the sauce was sweet and tangy.  The coleslaw was crisp and the bell peppers brings a good flavor to the dish.</p>
<p><a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Medium" title="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/zebrafx/4697570668/"><img class="alignnone" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4055/4697570668_21208b7918.jpg" alt="2010 - Big Apple BBQ" width="500" height="333" /></a></p>

<p>Dry Ribs and Beans was offered from 17th Street Bar and Grill.  This rib was not sauce and was more of a dry type.  The dry rub that they used was savory and penetrated down to the bone with a nice smokey flavor.   This rib had a bite to it and is very different from the fall of the bone ribs.  The beans were very soft and had a smokey meat flavor.</p>

<a title="6th Annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party" href="http://www.bigapplebbq.org/" target="_blank">http://www.bigapplebbq.org/</a></p>
<p>This has to be one of my favorite events out of the year. Famous BBQ champions come to New York City with their legendary pits to Madison Square Park. Word of warning, it gets very crowded very fast and food <strong>WILL</strong> run out. Expert Ferret Tip, come early, around 11am or get a fast pass for $100 from their site. The fast pass gets you into the express line and $100 credit for food and merchandise excluding books. Note: There is plenty of different foods, shirts, sauces, and rubs to take home.<em></em></p>
<p><em>Barbecue $8 per Plate • Sides &amp; Desserts $4 per Plate • Beverages $2-$6</em></p>
<p><span id="more-17"></span></p>
<p>If ya slept in too late, still show up for the music, draft beer garden and BBQ merchandise. You might just have to go eat the the Shake Shack in the park. Which is not bad by the way. Oh and for you foodies that can&#8217;t make it, you can watch it from the Shake Shack cam.</p>
