On the same trip to the KFC, this hungry ferret needed something different in his life to off set the taste of the Double Down, Wings came in to mind. Oh how can this go wrong? Wings are the magically item that anybody can eat and be happy. Oh and now they are fiery and healthier now in a grill fashion. Hmm will my taste of the double down go down the tubes? or fall deeper in regret and empty calories.

The wings are definitely not fried, normally this is fine but there something wrong here. I don’t see any crispiness or browning of meat that gives meat a tastiness that everybody seems to enjoy in life. Instead I got a mouth full of rubbery fat. The seasoning on the chicken had a kick. This type of kick was a more simple less complex heat, no sourness like a buffalo wing. The texture of the rubbery skin was too much of a distraction for me to enjoy this wing.

Day in and out, this hungry ferret heard so much media of this monster sandwich. One that will end all sandwiches. Normally this hungry ferret can easily resist the powers of the brain washing regime, but this time he was weak. Unable to resist the promise of the great land. The promise of not needing a bread. Will this ferret enjoy a tasty treat for lunch or find a double disappointment between his greasy hands.

From all the media, they made you believe that this “sandwich”, I use this term very loosely, suppose to be able to trigger heart attacks that mere morals can not resist.  Counting in at 540 Calories, 32 g of fat and 1380 mg sodium, it is pretty high amount considering it daily you suppose to have 2000 calories, 65 grams of fat and 2400 mg of sodium.

Once you are passed the stats, lets get down to the taste. The chicken that they use is white meat, which is not the juiciest of cuts. It does get a little dry in the middle thicker regions. The breading of the original seasoning is crispy and salty. So salty that you will have trouble tasting the sauce, soggy bacon and cheese. This sandwich was not very enjoyable. I would stick to a three piece meal and call it a day.

The Japanese are well known for noodle houses. Here you can see your dish being crafted through the window. The subtle flavors from the noodles and broth mixing in a bowl of goodness can bring a warm feeling inside. Did Udon West bring the mastery of the Japanese Noodle house to the US? Grab your beer and you can meet the Hungry Ferret at this noodle house to dive deep in noodles and curies from the east.

The Shrimp tempura with a light soy sauce was one of the appetizers first to make an appearance. The tempura did not have a heavy crust, which was good. Often many places have them with a goo between the shrimp and crust. This was not the case, very crisp and crunchy.

The next appetizer the Potato Croque with Tonkatsu Sauce (a thick Worcestershire sauce) had a very nice crispy outside and mash potato inside. It was not greasy and the outside was crisp. They delicately fried it to make sure that the outer layer did not break during the frying process leaving the inside nice and moist.

Next up was the Pork Tonkatsu with Japanese curry. The pork chop was crispy on the outside with a nice tasty crust. The inside was also very tender and moist. Often this meat, the inside would be overly fatty or overcooked and dry. The curry had the taste of a traditional Japanese curry, slight hot and strong “curry” flavors.

Nabeyaki the udon dish, consisted of an poached egg, 2 shrimp tempura pieces, fish cake, pork meat and other various vegetables. This dish comes in a special mini metal pot and a wooden spoon. The noodles were tender and tasty, had a very good texture. The broth was very flavorful and not too salty. The only complaint is maybe the shrimp tempura should come on the side. Having the tempura sitting in the broth for a couple secs pretty much destroyed the crispy exterior.

If you are looking for one of the “best burgers ever”, this place is probably a place you should visit. Even though this a “fast food chain”, I would not dare compare it to the others (you know whom I am talking about.)

Five Guys just offers fresh real American burgers. While munching on free peanuts, my burger was crafted in an extremely efficient clean open kitchen. You might wonder why the burgers so much better than everybody else. Did I mention the fresh never frozen meat, fresh cut fries (note they post where the potatoes are from daily). Five Guys also offers 15 toppings for free, which you can’t beat. On their menu you can choose various sauces, spreads, grilled mushrooms, onions, and other fixings to make your burger perfect.

Not to forget the french fries, they come two tasty version, salted and Cajun. They have a slight crispy exterior with a mash potato quality center. I highly recommend these if you love fries.
